Liquid repellent coatings are permant coatings applied when a nano-scale polymer layer is formed over the entire surface area of an object placed in the plasma. The coating process takes just a few minutes. The liquid repellent coating produced is typically less than 1/100th thickness of a human hair, colourless, odourless and doesn't effect the look or feel of the material in any way. It is a permanent coating too, being bound to the material surface on an atomic scale.
Liquid repellent Coatings
In summary, precursors in the form of vapourised monomer are introduced into the plasma chamber where they undergo gas phase reactions and surface interactions, finally bonding to the surface to produce a permanent liquid repellent coating that can be either hydrophobic, oleophobic or hydrophilic. A more complete description of the plasma coating process can be found in our technical section.

liquid repellent Coating Applications
Liquid repellent coatings can be applied to many industries and are rapidly finding new applications all the time. Liquid repellent coatings currently enhance products in the textile, medial device, opthalmic and consumer electronics industries to name but a few.
We know that our processes and coatings may be new to many people which is why we support you in your investment by uniquely offering both free trial services and then low cost rental systems where you can run production batches in-house over extended periods before making any committment.
